The Intricacy of Destination Marketing

February 13th, 2012

Destination Marketing has few distinctive characteristics that make certain that it is intrinsically complex and complicated, which includes the following:

  • When it comes to destination, it’s not an independent product similar to an airline seat or a bed in a hotel. Multiple individual products come together to form a destination, which comprises of hotels, tourist attractions, restaurants, and many more.
  • It is similar to a Lego set, where the customer/visitor builds their products according to their specific needs. Often, distinct visitors will make use of different products from one destination to create their own tailor-made product or experience that might be very distinctive from others.
  • Since destinations tender diverse products to distinct markets at distinct time intervals, in such situations identifying their competitors is one of the most difficult tasks for destinations. This task is difficult since for recognizing competitors and beating them, destinations must have concentrated focus for marketing behavior.

I’m Organizing a Big Conference

February 4th, 2012

I’m starting a new project at work. It’s the biggest project I’ve worked on so far. We have a global team, so there are going to be communication challenges. To get the project started on the right foot, I’m organizing a big kick off meeting. We’re going to fly everyone out to our headquarters in Los Angeles. I went online to look at hotels in los angeles. I found a really good one with plenty of rooms. I’ve booked rooms for all the attendees. I’m also setting the agenda for the meeting. We’re going to have everyone in town for a week. I’m trying to do a good mix of business talk and fun stuff. While we want to make sure everyone understands what we’re trying to accomplish, the real goal is to get everyone communicating well through team building activities. I think the meeting is going to be a lot of fun!

I want to go ahead and start looking up Tokyo attractions now, because I am so very, very excited. I feel like packing now, haha. I cannot imagine how much fun we will have, or rather, I can a little bit but I imagine that when the time comes for the trip I will be speechless. Japan is such a beautiful country filled with history, it seems to be the perfect place to go and see.

Getting Affordable Accommodation in Bol

December 23rd, 2011

Family Fun Day 2006The hotels located in Bol were very nice but we wanted to stay in a place that was a bit more relaxed. My mother decided to look into some Bol apartments instead of Bol hotels. Besides, the apartments were a bit more affordable than some of the hotels. We didn’t need the lavishness of a five-star hotel. We just wanted somewhere comfortable to rest when we were done having a fun day in Bol. My mom wasn’t a fan of highly expensive accommodation anyway. In any event, we found an apartment that was located near the beach that we were going to be spending quite a bit of time at. This beach is called the Golden Cape or Zlatni Rat, which is actually a beach that is quite popular among those who reside in Croatia. We got to see the apartment online and my mom quickly booked us a room. She actually got a great deal on it too.

The Punta Cana Connection

December 21st, 2011

Did you know that you can get to Punta Cana from New York City in just under 3 hours? This is really incredible when you think about this time of year and the weather we’re about to face in NYC early next month. I love living in New York but when it gets really cold and the sidewalk out on the street from my apartment building gets filled with slippery ice and slush I start dreaming of going to Punta Cana. This is so true the first time a taxi flies by and splatters me with a mixture of salted mud and icicles. Anyway, it is easy to get to the Punta Cana International Airport from New York so why not consider a trip away from the ice and slush! Here’s a link that will help you: http://www.dominicanrepublic411.com/bavaro/punta_cana.html. This site shows you some information that will make planning your trip easier.
